MeisterSinger X Alain Silberstein

When two design icons meet

Dial:

The jet black dials provide the perfect background for highlighting design details. Golden features are manifest throughout the design and add highlights, such as the applied hour markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. In the fine 5-minute line hierarchy, Silberstein has replaced the quarter-hour markers with fine dots. The MeisterSinger logo is applied in a silver-colored, three-dimensional look. A golden, recessed inner circle on the Grand Date and the framed, rectangular date window at 6 o’clock are outstanding additional features. Silberstein has not reinvented the MeisterSinger needle-shaped single hand, but interpreted it powerfully and strikingly in a typical Silberstein red. The spectacular hour hand has thus become a dominant and expressive design element. Unlike MeisterSinger, Silberstein has added a delicate golden second hand.

Case:

The surfaces of the 40-mm case are partly polished and partly brushed, giving its body a particularly elegant and lively appearance. The integrated steel bracelet, which flows seamlessly into the case and also features both polished and brushed surfaces, offers not only stability but also a maximum of wearing comfort. The likewise redesigned, non-slip, easy-to-use crown bears the fermata symbol from the MeisterSinger logo, which denotes the ‘rest’ mark in musical notation. With water resistance of up to 10 bar, the Kaenos is well protected in any everyday situation.

Movement:

The Edition watch is powered by the Sellita SW400 Swiss automatic movement, which, with its significantly larger diameter, also enables a particularly large date window at the 6 o’clock position. The rotor provides the watch with a power reserve of 38 hours. As Silberstein leaves nothing to chance, the rotor visible through the glass exhibition back was designed to match the colored elements of the dial in black and gold.

Features:

Alain Silberstein’s work is characterized by bold colors, geometric shapes, and playful elements that set him apart from the often traditional and understated designs commonly seen in the industry. Silberstein’s eponymous brand, which he managed for several decades, made him an iconic figure in the world of haute horlogerie. The edition watche is limited to 225 pieces and most definitely a wanderer between two worlds. Unmistakably MeisterSinger and at the same time with the inimitable signature of the old master Alain Silberstein. A magnificent collector’s item for friends of the extraordinary and people who love both: exceptional design and watches that, like their wearers, just want to be themselves. The specially designed packaging and an edition booklet round off this unique edition concept.

Reading a single-hand watch

Each line in the outer circle of MeisterSinger’s single-hand watches stands for exactly 5 minutes. The hand is therefore both an hour hand and a minute hand. For example, if the hand points to the fifth stroke after ten, the time is 10:25.

The line hierarchy typical of MeisterSinger single-hand watches additionally divides the time display into half and quarter hours, thus making it easier to read off the time accurately.
